Teaching Approach
My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. Lessons are designed to develop strong technical foundations, musical understanding and confident performance skills.

Students & Location
I teach students of all ages in Cambridge and the wider Waikato region, supporting beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students preparing for examinations and performances. Lessons are offered at my private studio on Isobel Hodgson Drive in Cambridge, and at St Peter’s School, Cambridge, by arrangement.
About Julia
She is a professional piano and violin teacher based in Cambridge, New Zealand, with a strong academic background and extensive performance experience.
She holds a double degree in Arts and Sciences from the University of Otago and a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the University of Waikato, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy at the University of Auckland. She also holds the LTCL Diploma from Trinity College London and has achieved Grade 8 in Violin Performance.
She is a first-place winner at music competitions in Auckland, Hamilton, and Te Awamutu, was selected for the Wallace National Junior Piano Competition at the age of 16, and has performed as a soloist with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, where she received the Most Promising Artist Award.
Her teaching focuses on structured musical development, performance preparation, and examination success, supporting students across all levels with particular emphasis on ABRSM and Trinity College London pathways.
